US consular fee
Video Instructions for Obtaining a U.S. Visa
Before submitting your documents, you must pay the consular fee. This is almost always required. The amount of the future payment will directly depend on the category of visa you wish to apply for. It is non-refundable and must be paid by each applicant, including children.
Where and How Can You Pay?
If you do not provide the consulate with a receipt, your U.S. visa will not be issued!
The consular fee is paid only at Raiffeisen bank branches using funds from your card account or in cash. You can pay the U.S. consular fee in Ukrainian currency (hryvnias) or in foreign currency (dollars).
Attention! Payment for a U.S. visa by card or cash in other banks is not allowed.
The receipt must indicate not only the cost of the U.S. consular fee but also other details:
- Full name;
- Address where you are registered and currently residing;
- Your phone number (usually a mobile number is indicated);
- Date and time of the payment made;
- Your signature.
To obtain the correct receipt that meets the embassy’s requirements, be sure to mention at the bank branch that you need to pay specifically for the U.S. visa consular fee.
If you need a non-immigrant visa to America, you can pay the U.S. consular fee with a credit card online! You can learn more about this from our company’s staff or on the official embassy website www.ukrainian.ukraine.usembassy.gov.
Nuances Related to the Consular Fee
Attention! Before paying the U.S. fee, make sure you really want to apply for entry permission specifically to America. The consular fee for a U.S. visa will not be refunded by either the consulate or the bank branch if you are denied.
- Once the payment is made, you will receive a receipt that is valid for no more than 12 months.
- After the receipt expires, you will not be able to schedule an appointment to submit documents to the consulate, and thus you will not be able to attend an interview and obtain a visa.
- If you wish to renew an existing visa, you will need to schedule another interview and, consequently, make another consular fee payment.
Categories of Individuals Exempt from Payment
When applying for a new entry permit, the U.S. visa consular fee must be paid unless you belong to the following individuals:
- You already have a visa for entry into the United States, the validity of which has not yet expired;
- You are under 10 years old;
- You are traveling to the States for charitable purposes;
- You are a member of a government diplomatic mission or an employee of government authorities, as well as a participant or staff of the UN General Assembly;
- You are a participant in an exchange program (Exchange Visitor Visa).
When replacing an MRV visa (in cases where it was incorrectly filled out or improperly affixed), payment of the U.S. consular fee is also not required.
Fee Amount
Almost any official U.S. fee has the same cost. This amount is 160 USD. However, there are also other payment amounts:
- 190 USD (for visa categories P, Q, O, R);
- 205 USD (for visa category E);
- 265 USD (for visa category K).
